Join this discussion as we explore what makes this movie disturbing for so many to watch. Is it the violence? Is it the rise of an antihero? Or is it something more insidious that is being revealed to us about our own nature?

Presenters:

Wes Alwan, M.A. is a writer, cohost of The Partially Examined Life Philosophy Podcast, and doctoral student at the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis. He lives in Cambridge, MA, where he thinks a lot about the political and moral psychology of film, literature, and contemporary American culture.  He has a special interest in psychoanalysis and has given many presentations including a BGSP event on Planet of the Apes.

William Sharp, M.A., Psya.D. William Sharp is an assistant teaching professor at Northeastern University and Program Director for the Masters of Mental Health Counseling at BGSP.  He has led talks on how film reflects human drives in such movies as: Lars and The Real Girl, Brokeback Mountain, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and Warm Bodies.
